CAMP BLUEBIRD

Camp Bluebird is a 3-day camping trip for adult cancer patients sponsored by the Cancer Center.The purpose of the camp is to provide patients with emotional and educational support outlets, as well as some creative and relaxing opportunities in a beautifully wooded camp.  The camp staff members are part of the Cancer Center team, and include physicians, nurses, a social worker, a dietitian, an exercise instructor, pastoral care associates and volunteers.  Any adult, 18 years or older, who has been diagnosed with cancer is invited to attend. COPING WITH CANCER

For those cancer patients who are newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, or who have completed treatment. For more information, call Memorial’s Chaplain, Rev. David Dewitt, at (337) 802-1933.  Held 3rd Thursday of the month at noon.  Light refreshments served

LOOK GOOD…FEEL BETTER®

Women currently struggling through cancer—the diagnosis, treatment and subsequent concerns about their appearance—are invited to meet with specially trained beauty professionals who’ll offer practical tips about skin care, makeup techniques, and guidance for coping with hair loss. MILES PERRET CANCER MOBILE UNIT

The Miles Perret “Mobile Miles” Cancer Services’ mobile outreach program operates from the Memorial Hospital campus at 1701 Oak Park Boulevard one-day-a-month providing free non-medical support and information for cancer patients throughout southwest Louisiana. The unit is stationed in the Medical Office Building parking lot on 3rd Street, adjacent to Memorial’s Cancer Center. In addition to emotional, financial and physical support services “Mobile Miles” brings medical supplies and equipment, nutritional supplements, wigs, prostheses and other resources to patients diagnosed with cancer—at no charge—regardless of age, financial circumstances, or type of cancer.
