Lake Charles Memorial Hospital will bill your insurance(s) prior to billing you for any balances left on your account. However, if your insurance fails to pay the claims, you will be responsible for any and all costs incurred with the provision of your care. All balances are expected to be paid in full within 30 days of being billed, or the guarantor must make appropriate payment arrangements.
Please let us know of any special circumstance that may impact the timely, accurate and complete payment for your services. Our Financial Service Representatives are able and willing to accommodate you in any way, but we need to know of special circumstances in advance of your service.
Memorial’s basic payment plan can be arranged after a brief interview with one of our Patient Account Representatives. Once a payment plan has been authorized, failure to make regular and routine payments may result in the debt being transferred to a collection agency.
If you are not covered by insurance, you will be given an automatic 10% discount just for choosing Memorial Hospital. We will also provide a 15% prompt pay discount on any balance paid within 30 days of your date of service, so please call us immediately to notify us of your payment and request a discount. The hospital accepts all major credit cards.
Medicaid Application Center
Memorial Hospital does have a Medicaid Application Center within the hospital. The office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Applications requested are by appointment only. Please call 337-494-4637 to set up, cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Memorial is committed to extending financial assistance, and free or reduced fee care, to qualifying individuals. If payment on your health care expenses could create a financial hardship for you, please contact a Financial Service Representative, who will help you apply for financial assistance. Applications will be processed and approval will be determined based on specific criteria. Information you provide is confidential and is only reviewed by the staff processing your application. If approved, your financial obligation to Memorial Hospital will be reduced. We will not discriminate in the determination of financial eligibility on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, age or handicap.

Your Hospital Bill
Your Memorial Hospital bill includes charges for goods and services rendered by the hospital but does not include any professional services. Each hospital visit is billed individually, and itemized bills are available upon request. You may contact our Patient Financial Services Department at 337-494-3265 with any questions or concerns you may have about your bill. The department is located at 3050 Aster Street in Lake Charles and is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
